I have to agree with Jason Morehead. Daniel Smith producing the new mewithoutYou album is definitely a “match made in heaven.”

I had a chance to see Danielson and mewithoutYou share a stage once at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia. While they are stylistically very different, they have both succeeded in creating music that defies arbitrary genre definitions, perplexes music fans and critics and challenges both the heart, soul and patience of anyone willing to listen.

It’s All Crazy! It’s All False, It’s All a Dream. It’s Alright, mewithoutYou’s fourth is due out later this year on Tooth & Nail.

For trivia’s sake, some of the footage in the film was shot at a Tangzine show at Kemble Memorial UMC in Woodbury.

Tangzine Editor Matt Ralph was actually interviewed at the show for the film but fortunately didn’t make the cut. Incidentally, the reporter who called Ralph a “bookish college student” (he was actually a fellow reporter at the time) did make the film.

This new take on a Danielson oldie was animated by Tom Eaton, who recently talked to the Sounds Familyre blog.

“Idiot Boksen” will be re-released along with many others from the Danielson back catalog Nov. 4 on Trying Hartz, a double-disc Secretly Canadian retrospective.

As they gear up for a tour that starts Halloween day, Danielson are releasing an early six-song treat for fans over at the Secretly Canadian site.

Alive, a free six-song EP, can be downloaded HERE. It features live and radio broadcast recordings of some Danielson classics.
