The Swimmers debut releasing March 4 Early March will see the official release of what WXPN's Bruce Warren called the "best album not released in 2007," the debut record of Philadelphia-based four-piece The Swimmers. Releasing March 4 on the Drexel University-based MAD Dragon Records, "Fighting Trees" was recorded and mixed at Miner Street Studios, home of renowned Philadelphia producer Brian McTear (Matt Pond PA, Danielson, Mazarin). Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man) contributed additional tracking and the rest was recorded in Swimmers frontman Steve Yutzy-Burkey’s home studio. Some may recognize Yutzy-Burkey from his previous Philadelphia band One Star Hotel or his collaboration with the Denison Witmer project The River Bends. Some of us even remember fondly the Lancaster band he once fronted called Star To Star. Whether you're familiar or not, Yutzy-Burkey is a fine songwriter who may finally be at the right place at the right time to garner the kind of attention he has long deserved. Visit theswimmers.com to get a sneak peak of the record and for more information. posted [02.20.08]
