Facebook shuts down Scrabulous
The day Scrabulous fans knew was coming has arrived. Try accessing the popular Facebook application in the U.S. and Canada and you'll get a message saying that it's been shut down until further notice. Facebook's action follows a lawsuit filed by Hasbro, which owns rights to the game in North America and the official release of a flashier authorized version on Facebook. It truly is the end of an era for the half-a-million-plus Scrabulous users who gave the brothers from Calcutta who invented it instant fame and plenty of spare change they'll now need to battle a corporate giant in court. What reason is there to frequent Facebook now? To send somebody a virtual drink? Time to break out the real Scrabble board. posted [07.29.08] |
