Saxon Shore recording with Fridmann

Add Saxon Shore to the list of albums to anticipate in 2008.

The Philadelphia post-rock outfit have announced plans to record their fourth full-length and second with sonic stalwart Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Low) in late spring/early summer.

No word on a title, release date and record label to release the resulting disc, but considering the band's breakthrough 2005 record on Burnt Toast Vinyl and growing popularity in Asia, it's sure to create some buzz.

With Fridmann at the helm before, the band turned out 11 sparkling instrumental tunes that — always a challenge in the genre — don't get old with a few listens.

Fortunately, "The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore" was just a metaphorical death.

As the news section of the band's Web site announces: they're still here and they're still working on a record.
