Lenny Smith posts new songs on MySpace

Danielson Famile patriarch, Lenny Smith, has joined the social networking fray with a MySpace account, but the main reason that's worthy of a news item are the six songs that accompany his new cyber-presence.

Long overdue for a follow-up to the 2001 Sounds Familyre release of "Deep Calls to Deep"--an album I wore out and passed around to dozens of friends in its cassette format--Smith wets the appetite even more for a new release with these five tunes. The most memorable is probably the infectious "My Teeth Are Shining Today," a quirky pop song that is a bit of a departure from the more serious scripturally-based songs for which he is known. The other five songs are not as quirky or catchy, but a fine representation of a great songwriter.

Though his song "Our God Reigns" is known the world over, the Clarksboro, N.J. folk singer has never gotten the credit or attention he deserves, but thankfully he hasn't given up the craft. While a release date hasn't been set for a formal full-length release, this should hopefully be a sign that the day is soon approaching.
