Elsewhere: Two-year-old newspaper article draws attention

An otherwise boring story about an Olive Garden coming to town Sioux City Journal reporter John Quinlan tried to spice up two years ago has become an Internet phenomenon thanks to Gawker, Huffington Post and company.

More than 21,000 visitors have reportedly accessed the two-year-old story on the Sioux Cit Journal’s Web site after Gawker called it the “most Onion-like real news story of all time.” Kate Dailey takes a look at the phenomenon and gets Quinlan’s take on it in this Columbia Journalism Review story.
