See what your favorite Web site looks like with all of the bells and whistles of the Interwebs in 1996.

Remember how terrible 98 percent of the Interwebs looked in 1996? I remember it taking an entire period just to download a Web page at my school’s library in 1996, but I also remember the eye-achingly abrasive colors, the ridiculous animated gifs and the MIDI files. Oh the MIDI files.

If you weren’t surfing the web back then or have successfully blocked it from your memory, this site lets you see what any site in 2010 would look like if it were on the Interwebs back in the day. Enjoy!

Like a lane violation in basketball when anyone not named Cole Aldrich is shooting free throws, a catcher misfiring on a throw back to the mound is a rarity.

But not last night in Milwaukee, thanks to some untimely muscle spasms.

Poor Gregg Zaun. He misfired not once or even twice, but three times. The video evidence Zaun is going to spend the rest of his career trying to get people to forget is HERE.

For all the talk during this tournament about where this or that guy will go in the NBA Draft and what All-American team this or that guy made, true fans of college basketball should be excited to see player profiles that do just the opposite.

A Yahoo Sports! profile on LaceDarius Dunn does just that:

LaceDarius Dunn says he doesn’t know who made the 2009-10 All-American team, and he isn’t sure where he’s projected to go in next summer’s NBA draft.

You can read the rest of Jason King’s article HERE.
Tony La Russa is apparently scouting more than just baseball these days with the release of a new book his hitting coach's brother/roid-popping partner in crime has coming out.

A tactician like big league manager Tony La Russa relies heavily on advanced scouting to look for ways to shift his outfield for a certain batter, good counts to hit and run on a particular pitcher and, according to Yahoo! Sports, the contents of a book he has no intention of reading.

St. Louis manager Tony La Russa received an advanced scouting report on the book and didn’t expect the release to disrupt the Cardinals’ camp.

“Somebody I knew read an advanced copy,” La Russa said prior to morning workouts. “He said that (Jay) said some stuff—it wasn’t really first-page-to-last-page damning stuff about Mark.”

Neither Mark McGwire nor La Russa plan to read the book.

“What’s the point?” La Russa said. “It’s stuff that’s already been gone over a bunch of times. I don’t know what it’s going to change.”

In New Jersey, those oil cans, milk jugs and deck chairs would have been stolen. But not in Lancaster County.

Thanks to Bryan Allain and the boredom of the laundromat, I found myself reading a newspaper story last week about a parade in Lancaster County. Typically, this kind of stuff goes in one side of the brain and out the other, but the first few graphs struck a chord with me, a New Jersey native now living in Lancaster.

For two weeks, chairs — as well as benches, saw horses and rope attached to such items as milk jugs, oil cans or bricks — lined the streets of New Holland.

New Holland Farmers Parade chairman Barry Hofford said a couple from New Jersey stopped by his house on Saturday wondering what all the chairs were doing sitting on the sidewalks around town.

“They couldn’t understand how they’d stayed there,” Hofford said. In New Jersey, they would have been stolen, he said.

But you have to remember you’re in Lancaster County now, Hofford told the couple.

“People still trust each other and respect other people’s things here,” he said.
